Liber Null is an international black metal band , practicing
their dark arts between Netherlands and Italy.
The band’s first album was released in 2016 and impressed with its
traditional malice and high quality music, combining the sound of
the early Darkthrone and Marduk with the guitar work of Watain,
very close to what the land of Nidaros (Trondheim) has to
offer.
This is not surprising, considering that the drummer in the band
is not just anyone, but the magnificent Thorns (Chaos Invocation,
Cultist, Darvaza, Deathrow, Fides Inversa, Frostmoon Eclipse, Kult,
Manetheren, Moloch, Mortualia, Nocratai, Nubivag , Shadows Ground,
Tumulus Anmatus, etc.).
Besides him, the band includes two other extremely talented names
in the genre – guitarist and bassist Ades, and vocalist Psaalm, who
is also participating as a vocalist in the Italian Frostmoon
Eclipse together with Thorns.
In Liber Null we are witnessing a completely different vocal style
and atmosphere – proof about the
professionalism of the musicians I am talking about and their
inexhaustible source of inspiration and energy.
“For Whom Is the Night”, Liber Null’s second full-length album, will be released on June 24 via Immortal Frost Productions.
Compared to its predecessor, the album contains twice the amount of raw energy and atmosphere, and within six tracks we can hear uncompromising chaos of various guitar and vocal techniques and drums, intertwined with the metaphysical lyrics of the songs in a very beautiful synchronicity.
Throughout the album there is a noticeable dynamic, as in some of the songs the atmosphere is really boiling and makes you move between erupting rage and ritualistic tranquillity, as in the same time surprisingly sneaking here and there glimmering solos maintain the interest of the listener, creeping a note of fresh air between the fiery passages.
With the first song on the album, “Nocturnal Craft”, we immerse ourselves in an atmosphere of afterlife, in which sulfur, impenetrable darkness and flashes of unknown dimensions merge to tell a story of enlightenment and liberation through knowledge and sacrifice of all things obsolete. Wild riffs, masterfully executed fast drums and fierce raw vocals take us very deep into the matter.
“To death’s realm – where promises dwell
For the end of this path I must reach
And beyond, in the caves of knowledge
Under rays of Luciferian liberation ”
The second song from the album, “Hexenblood Vessel”, is like a
cathartic moment in the story, told by Liber Null with its
ritualistic atmosphere and perhaps the most noticeable
dynamics.
The bass here is fierce, striking along with the other
instruments and vocals.
A fierce piece that embodies the spirit of black metal to its last
chord and nihilistic verse, imbued with the light of Luciferianism
and, above all, of the human spirit, striving for more than what
has already been known.
A mantra song , whose atmosphere accompanies us throughout
the rest of the album.
“Open your hearts to the Truth.
It is time to release all fears! ”
If you are looking for fierce and uncompromising black
metal with an element of exploration of philosophical topics and
more specifically, the search for truths and the presentation of
personal strength, along with the otherworldly wandering among the
unknown and the darkness, this is an album you should definitely
listen to.
Black metal, full of fiery rage, cold guitars,
fascinating songwriting and meaningful lyrics whose words
penetrate the mind, raising the spirit to another
level.
“I shall be one with Creation – as knight with
sword
For the pillars of all lie within my very own
To dimensions which can only be bestowed upon me
For I am that very mountain – that very fire
All natural things that die and that may die
All spirits that wander behind the veil of clarity
I shall pierce that veil with the golden spear that I
am
With steady hand and an open heart
Only then shall I return to the flame, as a moth ”
