Furious outbursts, emerging as if from the bottom of an
impenetrable abyss, preach Luciferian truths, imbued with
perversion, sinister malice, unrelenting violence and death.
The devil lives in the mirror and hides among humans – the message
of “Hiding Amongst Humans” is more than clear and conveyed through
the extreme skill of the Austrians ArsGoatia, in whose music death
and black metal maneuver like in a vague dark vortex, its value is
increased several times.
ArsGoatia‘s debut, “Hiding Amongst
Humans” is a specific creature. I don’t think I’ve heard
an album exactly like it, and even after a few listenings I managed
to find new interesting elements, which hooked me to the music even
more.
If you like the Trondheim black metal scene and death metal hooks
and blasts of the good old school death metal, this album
will devour your mind in minutes.
The band let their imaginations run wild, unleashing
demonical thoughts and curses within seven searing anthems.
Already with the opening track “Tongues Orifice
Fire” we witness an enveloping composition that
captivates with its expressive vocals, varying tempo and various
vocal techniques – from demonic muffled high-pitched cries to
distinct appeals, as if taken from an underground altar. A
psychedelic experience is promised from the very first song and I
can’t help but like it, especially served with such professionalism
and originality. I especially want you to emphasize the
instrumental (mostly the guitars) around 01:50, which acts like a
melancholic spring rain after a relentless carnage.
The second expression on the album “In The Veins Of
The Saints” is more chaotic and you can hear a lot of
death metal elements in it, while at the same time the track
tells a story about the hypocrisy and the curses that
circulate among people. About the double standards and having
certain requirements for yourself and completely different
requirements for others. Just like the Christian pilgrims and a
number of others who are allegedly against their understanding.
This piece is a direct mockery of this whole hypocritical
circus.
As the band themselves say… “It’s not about giving up your own
rules, it’s about having different rules for others than you have
for yourself.” Or in other words… if you judge others, judge
yourself in the same way, something useful might come out of
it…
This whole essence of the song is recreated by a smooth intro with
rhythmic drums and more atmospheric guitars, bursting into a very
fast rhythm with long solos and double vocals (the band
has two excellent vocalists), whose expressiveness is very pleasing
to listen and reminds of the early years of the 90s, with
some 80s influences.
In general, during the entire album, ArsGoatia do not stop stocking up with their music and offering new and unexpected sounds to make you present in the moment. You will hear everything in excellent form – perfect vocals, guitars, bass and drums, all of which are performed with precision and in different variations, without any clutter of elements.
A chaotic and psychedelic wandering through the
darkness, “Hiding Amongst Humans” is a raw black metal expression
where you can find something infectious in every track. An
uncompromising attack that leaves you shivering in anticipation of
what’s next.
A sonic nightmare with unimaginably beautiful guitars,
imbued with the furious call from the most boiling point of
Hell.
