While the world was at arms with the Corona Pandemic some years back, a few have gathered to go beyond all odds to create a death-celebrating event of what was to be known as Mrtvaški Ples vol. I. Three years have passed since and in the late summer of 2024 the second edition of the event took place in a setting and gathering likewise divine. All the while the fire burns strong, the idea stands firm and the yearning to go beyond the borders does not cease, we yet again stand before the test of time setting a fire to the third development of our annual adoration of mother Death in company with a beast that is of: Darvaza, Kringa, Myrdal and Solfar.

Ascending into Perdition (2021) is an obelisk that celebrates
Darvaza, the collaboration of the two most prominent contemporary
black metal musicians Omega and Wraath. »Door to hell«, to which
they’ve sonicaly envisioned and in live performance morphed as a
five-headed hydra, is today by far one of the fiercest acts
manifesting truest of Nidrosian in league with ancient Apennine
dark arts.

Kringa, Austrian band whose name’s first historical account is
traced back to Valvasor’s work The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola
(1689) with the legend of a vampire Jure Grado, has in 13 years of
abhorrent existence delivered some of the rawest musical hauntings
from northern bordering lands – Feast upon the Gleam (2019), All
Stillborn Fires, Lick My Heart (2021). Hailing from Linz, the band
stands as one of the leading Austrian acts of true black metal to
date.

From Leipzing, Germany, a city that boasts with one of the most
»freezing« black metal live recordings, comes a newly spawned
abomination that goes by the name of Myrdal. Just two years old,
this company of two has the world by the balls, as they ride
through the wild with their new release Helviti (2024).

While arts in Italy never cease to amaze, there seems to be a small
renaissance happening just across our western borders in the
ancient land of Friul with musicians, designers and crafters
heeding the call of the horned one. Solfar – meaning »Sulphur« in
Friulian – is one of the bands, who has with just a release of a
single Death Breath Asceticism (2024) already proven to be a
promising addition to this Firulian momentum.
