The French black metal entity Aldaaron has unveiled their upcoming fifth full-length album, “Par-delà les cimes”, set for official release on April 5th via Paragonn Records. True to their signature sound, the band embarks on yet another sonic journey, weaving together elements of epic grandeur and melancholic solitude.
The album’s title, “Par-delà les cimes”, resists direct translation, but the closest English equivalent—“Above and Beyond the Peaks”—captures its essence. The phrase evokes both physical and symbolic ascension, embodying a quest for something greater, an exploration of the mysteries that lie beyond the visible mountains. Aldaaron has always been deeply connected to themes of nature, transcendence, and mysticism, and this release continues that tradition, delving into the vast, untamed forces that shape both landscapes and the human spirit.
Musically, Par-delà les cimes unfolds like a windswept odyssey through majestic and desolate realms. The album comprises four expansive tracks, each standing as a self-contained piece yet forming a cohesive whole. From the very first notes, listeners are drawn into icy sonic landscapes, where soaring melodies and storming riffs intertwine with the distant echoes of powerful choirs. Aldaaron masterfully balances their trademark aggression with an atmospheric depth that immerses the listener in an almost cinematic experience—as if standing at the precipice of an unseen world.
In remembrance of Thöl (1988-2022), Aldaaron bassist from 2010-2012.
