Founded in Paris in the year 2000, NYDVIND has long stood as a pillar of atmospheric and epic pagan metal. With their music deeply rooted in nature and mythology, the band has crafted a sonic journey that transcends mere sound, weaving rich narratives and immersive landscapes. Over the years, their releases have demonstrated a masterful blend of raw power and intricate storytelling.
Their debut album, “Eternal Winter Domain”, arrived in 2003, setting the stage for their signature style—a fusion of black metal intensity with grand, cinematic atmospheres. The album was well received and later re-released in 2006, solidifying NYDVIND’s presence in the scene. In 2010, the band unveiled “Sworn to the Elders”, a record that expanded upon their themes of ancient wisdom and nature’s dominion, further refining their epic approach.
Following this, NYDVIND embarked on an ambitious conceptual tetralogy based on the four elements: water, earth, air, and fire. The first chapter, “Tetramental I – Seas of Oblivion”, was released in 2018, immersing listeners in the vast and mysterious realm of water. Now, after years of anticipation, the journey continues with “Tetramental II – Telluria”, dedicated to the element of earth. Scheduled for release on April 11, 2025 via Malpermesita Records, this second installment promises to delve into the deep and unshakable essence of the terrestrial domain, exploring themes of strength, endurance, and the unyielding power of nature.
“Tetramental II – Telluria” was recorded in June 2024 at Hemlig Studios. The album was recorded and mixed by Etienne Sarthou, while the mastering was entrusted to Brad Boatright in July 2024, ensuring a powerful and polished final product. The visual aspect of the album has been meticulously crafted as well, with layout and artwork designed by Richard Loudin and A.S.A., while the cover art is the work of Julian Bauer. Complementing this, the band’s imagery is captured through the lenses of photographers Khyrian and Gwendolyn Levier.
With “Tetramental II – Telluria”, NYDVIND continues to cement their legacy as storytellers of the natural world, blending mythology and metal into a profound, elemental experience. As the saga unfolds, fans eagerly await to immerse themselves in the next chapter of this grand conceptual odyssey.
