North Carolina black metal outfits, Mo’ynoq and Urocyon, unleash their new split EP, “Mo’ynoq X Urocyon”. Both bands will trade hometown release shows at Chapel of Bones in Raleigh, NC on April 25th and Static Age Records in Asheville, NC on April 26th. About the title, Mo’ynoq shares:
“Mo’ynoq has been through the fire, and these tracks are the
sound of us clawing our way out. It’s the most blistering,
unrelenting music we’ve ever created—pure catharsis, forged in
chaos.”
North Carolina-based black metal outfit Mo’ynoq has made a name for themselves by combining feral riffs with a uniquely humid atmosphere that draws listeners into a pummeling sonic labyrinth. Influenced by the likes of Ash Borer, Nachtmystium, and Krallice, the band weaves haunting narratives from which audiences struggle to escape. Since the band’s inception in 2016, Mo’ynoq has had each release further their widespread acclaim with their latest record, A Place for Ash (2022). Mo’ynoq has now prepared an exciting collaboration with Asheville-based Urocyon, another powerhouse in the North Carolina black metal scene. Urocyon was born from the ashes of the long-running Appalachian black metal band Shadow of the Destroyer. More melodic in sound, but with the same desperate rage over the destruction of our planet at the altar of capitalism.
Slated for release April 25th 2025, the split features four exhilarating tracks that promise to carry their message far beyond the southern hills they call home.
“Mo’ynoq X Urocyon” was recorded by Dave Kaminsky at Studio Wormwood in Asheville, NC, mastered by Ryan Williams, and pressed by Pour House Pressing in Raleigh, NC.
