Ascending from the ice cold abyss of the Swedish underground, KRYPTAN was formed in early 2020 by Mattias Norrman (OCTOBER TIDE, ex-KATATONIA) to realize his passion for the more sinister scapes of music. Joined by long-time friend Alexander Högbom (OCTOBER TIDE) on vocals, KRYPTAN draws inspiration from the raw aggression and eerie mood of the 90s era of Scandinavian black metal to deliver an eclectic, modern take on the genre.
After releasing a well-received self-titled EP in 2021 and bringing their powerful atmospheric black metal to the stage, KRYPTAN signed on to Norwegian label extraordinaire Edged Circle Productions to unleash their first full-length album in 2025.
“Violence, Our Power” presents seven brand-new songs of thrilling energy, weaving together shattering riffs, thunderous drums and bone-chilling vocals into a compelling experience that captures both the merciless cold of the north and the fury of inner darkness.
The album was recorded with session and live musicians Victor Parri (VALKYRJA, ISOLE) on drums, and Mikael Hanni (DISRUPTED) on backing vocals. Featured special guests are Nox (CRAFT) contributing vocals to “Det Är Döden Som Krävs”, and Simon Wizén (VALKYRJA, MARDUK) adding a furious guitar solo to “I Hope They Die”.
The album was mixed by Christian Larsson at Embodiment Audio and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge Studios in 2024. The captivating cover artwork is an ink illustration created by German occult artist ikosidio.
